The Heart Behind the Atheists' Comments

A couple weeks ago, I wrote an article listing a bunch of issues atheists directly said they had problems with Christianity. This week, I wanted to dedicate the entire article to the why behind what they said. I hope you find my thoughts helpful and that you comment below to let me know your take on their remarks.
The day a theist gives me any good testable verifiable evidence for their gods existence other than an old religious book says so I will become a Christion. Now 80 years old and its not happened yet.
Proceeded to mock my response by saying:
@BravetheBattle 'I can give you verified evidence' Really! O.K. let me have this evidence please. I look forward to your reply my friend. 'I can send you to a speaker that debates this point with renowned atheists' If its W L Craig, Frank Turek, or that buffoon John Lennox don't bother.
At first glance, and first read, my eyes kept falling on the word 'evidence'. This same commenter has actually comment on another one of my videos. We are a small platform, so I'm not sure how he manages to hunt our videos down every time I leave comments on, but he does lol. (maybe he's subscribed XD).

The first time I answered, I did focus on the evidence part of what he said. I had evidence, and if he wanted it, I was going to give it to him. But after his second reply, it became very clear that he didn't want evidence at all. And when he referenced many of those Bible commentators, I quickly recognized that if he didn't care to listen to what they said, me restating similar things was not going to convince him. If I were to keep talking, I would be doing him a disfavor. The more we know about the Bible and sin, the more we will held accountable for in judgement.
"So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin." James 14:7
An unfalsifiable answer is not an answer. It's just an assertion.
For this one, let's get our terms right. Unfalsifible: If there's no scientific way to prove that something's not true, it's unfalsifiable. You may believe that your dog dreams about rabbits, but since it's impossible to test whether he does or doesn't dream of bunnies, it's unfalsifiable.
Assertion: a confident and forceful statement of fact or belief.
Basically, the author of this statement is assuming that we don't have a scientific way to prove that our belief is true. This is a huge ASSUMPTION. I capitalize that because that word helped me understand this more. This commenter wrote this comment off of a video where I was answering questions asked in the Brave the Battle Community. I was not talking to an atheist audience. I was talking to a Christian audience. My point in the video was not to provide all the atheists that have a problem with Christianity a boat load of evidence. Can I offer it, yes, but we will be talking about that next month. This month I'm talking about the heart behind the problem.
Within this short sentence, it is clear that either the author has either never been told that their statement is incorrect, or their heart has been hardened, and they are not open to listen to any other statements. Next month, I'll get into how in that statement, they actually proved themselves wrong.
"So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” Hebrews 13:6
No offense, but if they think god is lazy they likely wont believe in the Bible. You take the Bible as unquestionably true, but I don’t. Why should I as a nonbeliever accept anything the Bible has to say? Additionally, if a god exists, I do think he’s lazy in a way. If he actually does want a relationship we’d have one. I don’t even know the guy exists, you would think if he wanted a relationship with me then he can, at the absolute least, show he does exist. I hope to hear what you think of this.
I added this one, because this comment was SO encouraging. This commenter was so respectful and sweet. After chatting with them for a bit, it became clear that they weren't attacking what we believe at all. Although they pointed out several problems they had with Christianity, they left with the last sentence as a genuine question. We had an amazing conversation off of that, and I hope that they will continue to think about what we talked about!
Oh, so God isn't lazy because the Bible says so? That’s a lazy answer. Meanwhile, the world is full of suffering, unanswered prayers, and people desperately trying to explain why an all-powerful being needs defending. If someone thinks Christianity is a pyramid scheme, maybe it's because it keeps demanding faith and obedience while promising rewards you only get after you die. And as for arguing with atheists—if all you’ve got is "pray and walk away," that’s just an excuse for not having good arguments.
You say you don’t just base your beliefs on the Bible, but on science, logic, and history. Great! Then start with one verifiable, testable piece of evidence that points to your god and only your god, something that doesn’t just rely on faith, interpretation, or personal experience. Because so far, all I see is an open-ended ‘let’s talk’ with no actual argument. If you have something solid, put it on the table.
Both those above were said by the same person. By some of the things they said, this came off as defensive to me, and if I had to guess, something personal happened to them to shut them off from God. This seems to be written from a hurting heart, so please be praying for them.
But I do want to pick apart what they said beyond just the overarching matter. I'll probably sound like a parrot, because I said a very similar thing above, but I was not talking to an atheist audience. I wasn't trying to prove Christianity to them just through the Bible. I was talking to a Christian audience. If I was talking to this person one on one, I would not be trying to prove to them that Christianity exists using the Bible. I would be using science. Which again we'll be talking about in April.
When they say that Christianity keeps demanding faith and obedience while promising rewards you only get when you die, I completely disagree. God commands us to live our lives how He outlines it, because He knows what is best for us. There is a difference between commands and demands.
Command refers to an order given by someone with authority, whereas demand is a firm request that lacks authority.
When God says something is best for us, He is coming from a place of authority. Following God and obeying Him certainly brings rewards after we die, but I would argue that following Him brings us just as many now. When I am walking with God, I am at peace, have joy, and have a fulness of love I wouldn't have otherwise. I would be miserable without God.
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows." Psalm 23:1-6
Next month, we will be diving into the actual scientific proof that the atheist above was demanding I give him. I'm really looking forward to continuing with this subject! I hope you found this as beneficial to your faith as it was for mine as I was writing. What do you think of what the atheist's commented? Do you have any opinions? Please comment below and let me know your thoughts.
