Shout Jesus from the Mountains

When life gets busy, it can be easy to put aside the gospel. I often use the “I shared the gospel not too long ago, I’m good” excuse. For the time it makes me feel better, and I can go on living my life the way that I had planned. Except for I can hear the small voice of the Holy Spirit telling me I should have asked that person if I could pray for them.
“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.” 2 Corinthians 5:20.
Just because I shared the gospel yesterday or last week, doesn’t mean I can just stop. It can be easy for me to just say that the timing wasn’t right. But if the Holy Spirit is pushing you to share the gospel, you can’t find a better time than right then to share the gospel. I have to ask myself: “Is the few minutes that it will take out of my day to share the gospel worth the possible salvation of that person?” It totally is.
“But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.” 2 Timothy 4:5.

I am ashamed of all the times I have felt the Holy Spirit telling me to share the gospel or ask someone if they needed prayer and turned Him down flat. All He was asking me to do was to be like Jesus and love on that person. It would only take me a few seconds to ask them if they need prayer and to hand them a gospel tract. And just what if that person was feeling lonely and God used me to deliver His love, the only love any of us will ever need. Our only job is to let God use us to present someone with His word, but then He does all the rest.
“I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.” Matthew 18:19-20.
Yes, I should definitely be praying for people, especially after I shared the gospel with them. But the real truth is, God gets all the glory for saving someone. He asks me and you to do so little compared to what He does. And don’t you want God to use you?
“For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13.
As we continue on into this new year, I want to challenge you to take the few minutes out of your day to share the gospel or pray for someone. Don’t be like me and just say that you shared the gospel a week ago and that’s enough. God has shown us amazing grace by giving us eternal life. Don’t you want someone else to have that same opportunity?
A song that I think of when I am re-reading what I wrote is: I Speak Jesus by Charity Gayle ft Steven Musso.
This is the bridge:
Shout Jesus
From the Mountains
Jesus in the Streets
Jesus in the darkness over every enemy
Jesus for my Family
I Speak the Holy Name
Jesus
