Cross-Language Evangelization- N. D. Ballard

Though it can often be easy to overlook people you can’t speak to, it's good to remember that they need the Gospel like we do.

Here in my home state of Texas, we have a lot of Mexican people and other Spanish-speaking folks. It’s not only enchiladas and salsa that they bring into our lives, but also a large population of South American Catholics.

Although my Spanish vocabulary doesn’t branch too far from what you might find on a Mexican food restaurant menu (it’s those verb forms that get me), I can still effectively reach my amigos thanks to Living Waters and their trillion pesos bill.

There’s a simple Gospel presentation on the back of this eye-catching fake currency. This tract is designed to look like a peso and it’s wonderful to watch as people take the bill and look it over, sometimes a little confused, but always delighted.

A message in their language or a bill that looks familiar can always be used to reach people with the Good News.

While I would still be stuttering over my verb forms and mis-conjugating the world away, the tract can be explaining the Gospel in precise terms.

Tracts, videos, and books in other languages are great ways to crack the language barrier!

What is a people group near you and what language do the people speak?

How can you reach them?
